An elderly woman has been left badly shaken after burglars removed a pane of glass from her kitchen window - before climbing in and searching the property.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a burglary last night (October 6) in the Orangefield area of East Belfast.

Just after 9pm, four males wearing masks entered the property and searched the bedroom of the elderly female resident.

However the men left a short time later without taking anything.

Detective Sergeant Conor Sweeney said, “I appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime, Musgrave police station on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
