PSNI investigating sudden death of man

Police are investigating the sudden death of a man in the Hilltown Road area of Newcastle this morning, Friday 20 September.

At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious. There are no further details at this time.

Meanwhile, HM Coastguard Aeronautical Coordination Centre confirmed it received a request for assistance from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service at approximately 10.50am this morning, Friday, 20 September, for assistance with a male casualty in the Mournes area. The search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick was sent to the scene and transferred the man to the hospital in Newry.

It is not yet confirmed whether the man who died was the same man who was collected by the Coastguard.
