Taxi driver assaulted and vehicle burned out in Dungannon

A taxi driver has been assaulted and has his vehicle taken during an incident in Dungannon.

The driver was carrying four passengers, two men and two woman, he had picked up in the Banbridge area when he was asked to stop at the side of the Bovean Road for a comfort break around 1.30am on Friday.

Once stopped, he was struck on the side of the head and pulled out of the vehicle.

The grey Hyundai was taken and later found on fire at the Annaghbeg Road.

The driver is not thought to have been seriously injured.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact the PSNI on the 101 number.
