Detectives are appealing for information after a report of the episode near Moneyreagh in Castlereagh, on Friday.

Detective Inspector Michelle Boyd said: “Police received a report that at around 5pm, two females had called to the home of an older, vulnerable man whom they had spoken with as he had been walking in the area a short time before.

“The man permitted the females entry to the house where they were then confronted by the man’s wife. Excuses were made as to why they had called to the house before they looked around and used the bathroom before leaving.

“It is believed that they got into a dark coloured BMW car which had been waiting outside and was being driven by a male, and left the area.”

Police say that the first female was described as being aged in her 30s, of heavy build, around 5’2” tall, with blond hair tied up at the back and was wearing a long, fawn coloured coat and dark trousers.

The second was described as being in her late teens, of slim build, around 5’ tall with dark coloured shoulder length hair and wore thin framed glasses. She was wearing a long dark coloured coat with dark trousers.

Inspector Boyd said: “Whilst nothing was reported stolen from the house we believe at this time that if the man’s wife had not been at home the intent was to steal from this vulnerable man.
