The man shot in the chest on the outskirts of west Belfast on Wednesday is said to be “stable” in hospital.

The 31-year-old was shot through a kitchen window shortly before 10.45pm.

Witnesses have said the gunman had an accomplice and that they were both dressed in black.

Police say they are keeping an open mind about a motive.

In a separate incident, a man was shot in the leg at a derelict house in Spamount Street in the north of the city.

A PSNI spokesman said the shooting bore the hallmarks of a paramilitary-style attack. The victim, who is in his 20s, was shot around 9.30pm.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
