A woman wearing a cow print onesie and armed with a suspected firearm has made off with cash during an early morning armed robbery in south Belfast.

Police, who are appealing for information after the incident, say a 20-year-old man was robbed around 3am in the Great Victoria Street area on Thursday morning.

It is understood the victim, who thought he was getting a lift, got into a blue Volkswagen golf with the woman and her two male accomplices before he was robbed.

He then got out of the vehicle before the robbers made off with a sum of cash.

Detective Constable Gareth Hussey said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
