Cyclist critical after mid-Ulster collision


A cyclist is in a critical condition after being involved in a collision with a car on a dual carriageway.

Police said that the incident occurred on the route between Cookstown and Moneymore.

The carriageway was closed to traffic heading towards Cookstown.

At around 7.30pm the police had said the cyclist’s injuries were not understood to be life-threatening “at this time”.

later on Wednesday night a spokeswoman for the Northern Health Trust said that his condition was critical.

He had been taken to Antrim Area Hospital, and his family was understood to have arrived to see him.

As of around 10.45pm, he was being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
