Dame Mary for service at St Peter’s Cathedral

Dame Mary Peters will attend a service of Sung Evening Prayer at St Peter’s Cathedral in Belfast tomorrow at 5pm.

Dame Mary, who has been a supporter of the boys’ choir in the cathedral, the Schola Cantorum, will be attending in one of her last official duties before she retires as Lord Lieutenant for Belfast in a few weeks.

New choristers, junior boys for the Schola, will be installed tomorrow, which is the Patronal Feast Day for the cathedral.

Next weekend the Schola Cantorum, which was founded by the cathedral’s director of music Nigel McClintock, will be visiting Paris.

The choir will sing in venues including the Notre Dame Cathedral.
