Recently, Ulster Wildlife’s YFCU Project Officers Shona and Andrew undertook a bird feeder project with Derg Valley YFC.

There was great participation throughout the club and members got to develop their team building skills by working together to make a range of different bird feeders. These bird feeders will help local bird life as we enter into the winter months. The club also learnt about the Grassroots Challenge and came up with some wild ideas projects that they want to participate in over the coming year.

Mourne YFC were the next club to take up the Grassroots Challenge and spent the afternoon doing a beach clean at Kilkeel Beach. The club collected 12 bags of rubbish, three 20ltr drums and three fisheries boxes which was a great effort from the members and will make the beach more user friendly for people and wildlife. Mourne YFC also came up with some other wild ideas projects which they will be undertaking in the future.
