Derry's Dean Jarvis looks set to be on his way to Dundalk.

DEAN JARVIS is understood to be in advanced talks with Dundalk and looks set to become the latest of last season’s Derry City squad to leave the Brandywell club.

The former ‘Candy Stripes’ left-back was in Dundalk earlier this week and it’s believed he has been offered a bumper deal to join Stephen Kenny’s Lilywhites squad.

Jarvis, who joined City from Institute in 2013, has been a mainstay in the Derry City starting line-up under Kenny Shiels over the past two seasons.

According to sources close to the Oriel Park club, the Brandywell lad will return to Dundalk today as the club launches its new kit for the 2018 Airtricity Premier Division campaign at the Marshes Shopping Centre where Patrick Hoban and Ronan Murray are set to be unveiled as new signings.

The player was locked in talks with the FAI Cup runners-up this week and is believed to be on the verge of completing a deal. Should he decide to leave Foyleside, it will come as a blow to City boss Shiels who has already seen midfielder, Barry McNamee and defender, Aaron Barry leave for champions, Cork City during the close season.

However, Shiels has been busy in the transfer market over the past fortnight and claims to have completed SEVEN new signings, including midfielder Rory Hale and right back, Dapo Kayode, with one signing pending.

The Co. Derry man returned from London on Wednesday afternoon where he completed the signing of a new centre half to replace the experienced Barry but he’s reluctant to reveal names until all the deals are confirmed.

“We’re going to release the names of a few signings next week but I can’t reveal any of them just at the minute,” said Shiels. “I’m just back from London where I signed a player - a centre half. We met up in London and completed the deal. I’m nearly over the line with another one and I’ve agreed terms with a player in Dublin. I’ve also signed a player last Friday in Glasgow and this weekend I’m going to Liverpool to meet up with a player with a view to signing him.”
