When it was unveiled back in September 1986 , Dundonald International Ice Bowl was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, housing what was – and remains – the only Olympic-sized ice rink on the island of Ireland.

Over the years, the Co Down venue has added a state-of-the-art 10-pin bowling centre – complete with glow in the dark sessions – and an indoor adventure playground dubbed Indiana Land, creating a premier entertainment complex which remains as popular as ever, attracting about 500,000 visitors each year.

For one day only, customers will be invited to reminisce and take advantage of ice skating sessions for only £1.50 per person and 50p skate hire.

The facility, which is owned and operated by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, is also hosting a magical superhero and princess ice skating session from 5.15–7.15pm featuring favourite characters such as Captain America, Iron Man and Frozen’s Elsa and Anna.

Little superheroes and princesses are invited to go along in fancy dress and sing along to their favourite movie songs.

Councillor Tim Morrow, chairman of the Council’s leisure and community development committee, said: “I am personally delighted to mark the 30th anniversary of Dundonald International Ice Bowl, as my father was an elected member on the council when the facility first opened back in September 1986.
