The famous ‘Kop’ stand at Windsor Park has been demolished after an engineer’s report suggested damage first noticed in March was not repairable.

Cracks in the 5,000-seat grandstand appeared just days after Northern Ireland had defeated Finland in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

Photographs taken at the time showed cracks, collapsed brickwork and buckled stanchions supporting the rear of the structure.

The Irish Football Association has said it will fast track the installation of seats in other areas of the ground, which are undergoing redevelopment, so that the top of the table clash with Romania can take place at Windsor on June 13.
