Former Craigavon mayor Samuel Lutton dies


A former mayor of Craigavon, Samuel Lutton, died at the weekend in his 92nd year.

Mr Lutton, a Lurgan Ulster Unionist councillor, was Craigavon mayor in 1996-97 and was a councillor for more than a decade.

He was a prominent member of Upper Bann Unionist Association and served on the management of Brownlow House property in Lurgan.

He belonged to both the Orange and Black orders. In the Black Institution he was a Deputy County Grand Master and Grand Lecturer in Co Armagh.

He was predeceased by his wife Sarah and survived by a son and two daughters.

Mr Lutton was buried after a service in Queen Street Methodist Church, Lurgan, on Sunday.
