Four men have been arrested in the Republic on suspicion of terror offences after a series of raids turned up bomb-making equipment.
Some 20 searches were carried out as part of an ongoing Garda investigation into dissident republican activity in counties Dublin, Louth and Wexford yesterday.
Several units, including armed officers, were involved and an area of Courtown, Co Wexford, was sealed off while bomb experts deal with a suspect device.
One of the suspects detained is in his 60s and the other three are all in their 20s, said a Garda spokesman.
“All are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at various Garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region,” he added.
The four have have been arrested under suspicion of a number of offences, including directing terrorism, membership of an unlawful organisation and possession of explosives.
