Speaking following a preliminary inquest hearing in Belfast on Tuesday, Mr Frazer said he will be writing to the Republic’s justice minister to request a meeting.

Mr Frazer said he supported the request for former senior IRA figure Sean O’Callaghan to give evidence, but said the Irish Government also has a responsibility to reveal all that it knows.

“We are pleased with the [inquest] progress so far. We are however very disappointed with the cooperation from the Garda and what has been received from them,” he said.

“Enda Kenny promised the families as well as myself that we would receive full cooperation and they would do all they could to help bring closure to the families. All we have received from them so far is newspaper cuttings.”

Mr Frazer added: “It has gone so far now that we have asked our legal team to consider taking action against the Irish Government. Hopefully the situation wont arise where we have to take to the streets of Dublin, and we are only asking for them to deliver on their commitments and promises made to the families before this type of action is considered, as the innocent victims will not allow themselves to be palmed off.”
