The funeral service for 62-year-old Victor Nicholl who died in an industrial accident will be held on Monday.
Mr Nicholl, from Kilrea, had been working at FP McCann’s quarry at Drumard Road near Gulladuff when the accident happened on Friday.
His funeral will be held at 2.30pm in Saint Patrick’s Church of Ireland in Kilrea.
Mr Nicholl has been described as “a hard working man” who had been with FP McCann for the past 19 years.
He was married and came from the Fallahogy district outside Kilrea.
It has been reported that Mr Nicholl had been driving a 60-tonne dumper truck shortly before the accident.
The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation to establish the circumstances of his death.
DUP MLA Adrian McQuillan last night extended his sympathies to the Nicholl family.
“This has come as a terrible shock for them and the community,” he said.
DUP councillor on Magherafelt council James Shiels said: “It is an understatement to say that this tragic accident has caused widespread shock and grief.
“My thoughts are with the family at this most difficult time and they can be assured of my prayerful support as they come to terms with their loss.”
SDLP councillor Martin Kearney said: “He was a popular man who was very highly respected in the community.”
