Funeral later for tragic teenager Lesley-Ann McCarragher

The funeral for tragic 19-year-old Lesley-Ann McCarragher who was mown down by a speeding car while jogging near her home will be held later today.

The teenager who was injured on April 9, died the following morning in hospital from her injuries.

Today she will be buried following a funeral service in the First Presbyterian Church, Armagh at 1.30pm.

Her family have requested family flowers only at the service and if desired, people can make donations to the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, c/o K.G Cheevers and Son Funeral Directors.

Earlier this week, the family of Lesley-Ann paid tribute at the scene on Monaghan Road, Armagh to their brown eyed girl who had “a smile for everyone.”

Her devastated parents James and Elizabeth left a message which read: “Mummy and daddy will always love you. Our darling, beautiful, intelligent daughter.

“Always bubbly, a smile for everyone with those big beautiful brown eyes.

“Loved, cherished and will never be forgotten. Mummy and daddy xoxo.”

A 17-year-old male appeared in court in Newry on Monday in connection with Lesley-Ann’s death.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of his age, stands accused of dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop, failing to remain and failing to report, no driving licence and no insurance.

He was released on bail and is due to appear in court again later this month.
