Heavy lambs sell from £79 to £85.50 each at Markethill

An entry of 1920 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 14th September sold in a firm trade.

Heavy lambs sold from £79 to £85.50 each with the entire entry of heavies averaging £82.20 each. Top rate of 332p per kilo was paid for 24.7kilos at £82 each.

Good quality middleweight lambs reached 371p per kilo for 22.4kilos at £83 each. All good quality pens sold from 335p to 359p per kilo.

A large entry of stores sold readily to 406p per kilo for 16.4 kilos at £66.50 each, followed by 393p per kilo for 16.4kilos at £64.50 each. Main demand sold from 350p to 381p per kilo.

Cull ewes sold from £65 to £86 each with plainer ewes from £40 to £60 each.

Breeding hoggets sold to £155 each with several pens selling from £125 to £150 each. Rams sold to £350 for a shearling Texel. Several more sold from £220 to £345 each.
