Republicans who placed IRA flags at a jobs and benefits office in Belfast are deliberately trying to intimidate people, it has been claimed.

Flags from the IRA’s D-Company have appeared on the office at the Falls Road.

DUP Councillor Frank McCoubrey said those responsible were trying to “antagonise and intimidate”.

“This is a government building. Flags promoting a terrorist organisation should not be on the building or within its curtilage,” said McCoubrey.

“The flags are a disgrace in and of themselves but to erect them on government property is nothing more than an attempt antagonise and intimidate. I will certainly work to ensure the flags are removed.”
