A Broadway singing star is among the performers who will take to the stage during the upcoming BBC Proms in the Park.
The BBC has revealed the names of a number of performers for the event, taking place at Belfast’s Titanic Slipways on Saturday, September 10 – among them John Owen-Jones.
The Welsh actor and singer has starred as Jean Valjean in productions of Les Miserables in both London’s West End and New York.
Organisers said soprano singer Lesley Garrett will also be performing, as will clarinettist Martin Fröst, virtuoso violinist siblings Vladimir and Anton from Slovakia, and Londonderry-born pianist Ruth McGinley.
In addition, there will be an appearance by the Londonderry-based chamber choir Codetta, under the guidance of Donal Doherty.
The BBC describe the concert as “Northern Ireland’s biggest outside broadcast event of the year”.
It is part of the UK-wide celebrations of the Last Night of the Proms.
Extracts from the Belfast concert will be shown across the UK on BBC One and BBC Two on the night, while BBC Radio Ulster will be live throughout the evening. Its coverage begins at 7.30pm.
Viewers will also be able to watch selected highlights from the Belfast concert online at www.bbc.co.uk/proms and on the BBC Red Button.
