Keith Lee, 42, who had been charged with killing Joanne Lee, in February was found unresponsive in his cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday.

Foul play is not suspected.

He had been arrested and charged after Ms Lee's body was found at a house in south Dublin on February 15.

She had last been seen alive at her parents' house in the Garristown area of Co Meath 10 days previously and Gardai had been carrying out inquiries as part of that missing person probe when they made the grim discovery.

Her body had been wrapped in a sleeping bag.

Lee had been hospitalised with serious injuries after being found by Gardai outside the property at Ranelagh Road in Dublin and was in a wheelchair when he appeared in court last month.

Meanwhile, Ms Lee's uncle, John Curry described her as a "lovely, beautiful girl" and said her death had ripped the heart out of her family.
