Man on drugs charges after west Belfast crash

A man has been charged with a string of offences after police uncovered a suspected five-figure drugs haul following a car crash.

The PSNI said at the weekend that following a traffic collision on the Springfield Road in west Belfast on Friday, “police arrested a 34-year-man on suspicion of drugs offences following the discovery of an amount of suspected cutting agent”.

Cutting agent is used in the processing of illegal drugs.

After a follow-up search at a house in the Edenderry area of south Belfast police arrested a 27-year-old woman, also on suspicion of drugs offences, following the discovery of a quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £60,000.

An amount of suspected cutting agent was also recovered at the house.

On Sunday the PSNI said they had charged a 34-year-old man with drugs and motoring offences, including possession of a Class A drug, and possession with intent to supply.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 27-year-old woman has been released on bail pending further police inquiries.
