Two arrests were made on Thursday by police investigating the killing of Brian McIlhagga.

The suspects, aged 22 and 46, were arrested in Ballymoney, and the PSNI said a number of properties were being searched.

Earlier on Thursday, searches were carried out at a river near the Riverview Park house in the town where Mr McIlhagga was beaten and shot.

Investigating officer DCI Michael Harvey said: “Despite these arrests I want to again appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything in the Riverview Park area between 10pm and 11pm on Monday night to contact police.

“I want to hear from anyone who saw men or vehicles moving in and around the area.”

It is thought at least three masked men had forced their way into the house.

Four children, the oldest of which was 13, were inside the house at the time.

A woman was also inside, and was forced to lie on the floor.

DCI Harvey had previously told the press: “The victim has a minor criminal record but he is certainly not a major criminal.”

Anyone with information is asked to call a special incident room at Ballymoney on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
