Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of tragic Hillsborough schoolgirl Cariss Dempster who lost her battle with neuroblastoma on Tuesday.

During the noon service at Bann Road Presbyterian Church in Dromore, Rev Gary Truemen told mourners how ‘Jesus had taken Cariss by the hand and led her to the gates of heaven on Tuesday’.

Rev Gareth McFadden from Annahilt Presbyterian church also participated in the service.

Her burial took place afterwards in Annahilt Presbyterian churchyard.

Cariss is deeply mourned by her parents Noel and Elaine, her sister Korin, 10, and wider family circle.

On Tuesday on a fund raising Facebook site started by Korin, the family announced: “Our little princess gained her angel wings today. She will always live in our hearts forever. Xxxx.”
