Mr Vaughan, who performed as Simon Scott on stage, died amid flooding in County Monaghan.

Irish police believe Mr Vaughan, understood to originally hail from the Dungannon area but who lived in Caledon in south-east Tyrone, had been swept away by flood water after getting out of his car.

He had been returning from the Monaghan village of Glaslough on Sunday evening, where he had been performing.

His body was uncovered in the Corraghdown area of the Republic, close to the border, late on Monday morning.

He was aged 70.

It is thought that an inquest into his death will open in February.

After the funeral service he was buried at Cottagequinn Cemetery, on the outskirts of Dungannon.
