I live in Canada and have flown back home to visit family in the Banbridge/Dromara area (43 times, usually a couple of times a year).
For the first half plus of my flights home I went through Aldergrove, then Belfast City.
I now always go through Dublin (can be with family in 90 minutes after a totally relaxing drive).

Dublin truly is a real international airport.
I also find that car rental is away cheaper than at either Aldergrove or the City Airport.
