If partnership is enough, why not ban heterosexual marriage?

So Arlene Foster says she know 'plenty of people in [the gay] community who don't want to see marriage redefined and are quite content in a partnership.

As a gay, male activist I personally know more people in the straight community who are content to be a partnership than I even have gay contacts. I also know a large number of people in the straight community who want to see marriage equality.

However, if having a number of people who are content to be in a partnership is enough to block the majority who want marriage equality, surely as some heterosexual couples are happy in a partnership that means we should ban all marriage?

It is the only logical solution to Arlene’s perceived storm in a teacup.
