If we are a compassionate nation, we should remember a '˜proper wee baby'

To all those in our society with an interest in the abortion debate, individual people, pressure groups or elected politicians:
A woman, aged 21, was handed a three-month jail term (suspended for a year) after inducing her abortion with pills from the internetA woman, aged 21, was handed a three-month jail term (suspended for a year) after inducing her abortion with pills from the internet

Will you not allow the spectre of words arising out of the recent case in our Province, “It was a full wee proper baby” [as the aborted foetus was described] to shape your thinking on the subject?

If there is a foetal abnormality, it is still, “A full wee baby”. If it is as a result of a sexual crime, it is still, “A full wee baby”.

The call from some across the water to simply lower the age of termination should realise, that it is still, “A full wee baby”.

For from conception, it is not a potential baby but a baby with potential.

If we are supposed to be a compassionate nation, let us prove it by caring for all our “Full wee babies” and the mothers who need support in carrying them.
