Jeremy Corbyn has not condemned the IRA directly and I doubt that he ever will

I fear the News Letter is in danger of being led up the garden path.

Your headline (May 23) informs us that ‘Corbyn finally condemns the IRA’.

But Jeremy Corbyn did not himself directly condemn the IRA.

Rather we have some collection called “Mr Corbyn’s Team” issuing a response to the questions posed by the Secretary of State James Brokenshire.

If the Labour leader really wants to distance himself from the IRA why does he not have the guts to stand up and say so himself.

Instead he (and his sidekick, the shadow chancellor John McDonnell) hide behind some faceless online outfit.

If Corbyn really intends to condemn the IRA let him say so directly.

But I don’t think this will ever happen.
