I wonder if BBC insensitivity to Christian beliefs is thoughtlessness by those in charge or a deliberate strategy

The comments in the letter about the BBC and their disrespect for traditional Christian beliefs struck a chord.

(The letter can be read here: ‘BBC seems to have no qualms about upsetting traditional viewers in run up to Christmas Day,’ December 24)

The contributor to the BBC Radio Ulster Thought for the Day on Christmas Eve morning said that the birth of Jesus wasn’t extraordinary, it was ordinary.

It saddened me deeply, on a special morning, to hear such a contribution.

I was left wondering if this is a deliberate BBC strategy or thoughtlessness on the part of those in charge or just another attempt to get some “clever” approach to the old, old Story.

As the hymnwriter Charles Wesley said, “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; Hail the incarnate Deity, Pleased as man with man to dwell, Jesus our Immanuel”.

There is absolutely nothing ordinary about that!
