It was a marriage millstone for Northern Ireland, not a milestone

Jim Wells was correct on Monday to express sadness at the latest endorsement of immorality in same-sex ‘marriage’.

When government shows such a lack of moral courage those it governs are the inevitable losers.

The plain fact is that same-sex relationships can never be ‘marriage’, whatever some may call it, since marriage — as originally given by God and as traditionally understood for millennia — is the lifelong relationship between one man and one woman.

The Christian view, according to the Bible, also teaches that any sexual activity outside of true marriage is both sinful and harmful.

Perhaps Monday’s headline ought to have read ‘Same-sex marriage millstone in NI today’?

Sad to say, the damage has already begun.

Thankfully, the same Bible shows the way out of every sinful lifestyle — the Saviour we remember at Christmas paid for sin on the Cross, offering forgiveness and new life to all who would repent and trust in Him (see 2 Corinthians 5v17).

He lifts people up to what they ought to be.
