People saw brazen Sinn Fein at the Bobby Storey funeral showing contempt for their own Covid guidelines
The business of letting matters slide can only go so far before it breaks.
And it has broken with the exceptional times we live in. Should we ignore everything, no matter how hypocritical, just for the sake of the Stormont and a much criticised peace process?

Hide AdDespite years of political experience, Sinn Féin’s leaders such as Gerry Adams and Gerry Kelly either failed or were unable guide their party to avoid the public and political backlash for appalling double standards at Bobby Storey’s funeral.
The public were beaten over the head for months with a litany of rules and were essentially made prisoners in their own homes — then Sinn Féin took to the streets in their hundreds because one of their comrades had passed on.
Many people who could not attend funerals surely said ‘who the hell do they think they are lecturing us about what, and what not to do, when they won’t do it themselves?’
On top of breaking their own long spouted guidelines about social distancing, Sinn Féin leaders in government will always face criticism while they pay respects to those with illegal paramilitary pasts. This conflicts, certainly in spirit, with the interests of the lawful government offices they hold.

When political leaders are asked for good reason to step down, they should do so, instead of thinking that they own the offices they hold and can do what they want because they hold them. And instead of them expecting that everybody will stay silent for the sake of peace and stability, no matter how hypocritical and cynical it is at the top level.
