Peter Robinson’s article in Friday’s papershould force unionists to face some uncomfortable realities.

Chief among these is the truth that the fall out from the Northern Ireland Protocol is not making headlines in London.

While there is a lot of sympathy for the plight of unionists on the government benches they have have been fed the diatribe that the protocol is necessary to defend the Belfast Agreement.

As Peter Robinson notes, it sends a confusing message that Stormont should without fuss implement the protocol as has happened to date and yet unionists complain.

If the protocol is allowed to bed in it will be too late to do anything about it.

Now is the time to, in the clearest possible terms, to tell the government that there is no consent and the institutions are untenable as a result.
