Jim Allister: Sinn Fein is getting away with the Bobby Storey funeral breach, which will only encourage the party

Sinn Fein audaciously set itself above the law in the Bobby Storey saga, yet, sadly seems to be getting away with it.

Such will only encourage it to believe it can and will do what it likes because its partners in government will never do anything about it.

Yes, we’ve had sound and fury, but what does it signify?

And is the sound and fury itself just a means of buying the time for things to return to normal? I fear so.

Once more we are seeing that “the process” trumps everything, including principle.

Stormont was restored without putting in place any measures to hold Sinn Fein in check.

Now, if Sinn Fein is not to be proved right in its belief that it can do as it likes, there needs to be tangible legislative steps to put in place consequences for such actions.

Otherwise Sinn Fein is emboldened even more and every other executive party looks puny and ineffective.
