Share the border between land and sea

Surely if the European Union cared as much about the Good Friday Agreement, as they claim, they would understand the importance of reflecting the balance of North/South and East/West relations.

We now have nationalists cock-a-hoop about the Irish Sea border which is a massive win for them at the expense of unionists.

Perhaps a balanced alternative might be a light touch border shared between both the Irish Sea border and the Northern Ireland/Republic borders.

How the checks are divided up may take a bit of working out but the political outcome would be balanced; which is the key to acceptance.

This would also be a chance to show goodwill by all parties, where it really exists.

After all, is not a problem shared a problem halved?

As it stands, all of the EU claims fly in the face of the evidence.
