Surely when the lives of us all are at stake our politicians must realise that we must use all resources at our disposal and coalesce with our geographical neighbours in the Republic to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone on the island during this dreadful pandemic.

I have been working as a front line NHS worker in Northern Ireland for 34 years and currently participating in GP Covid centres so I have a clear professional interest as well as a normal concerned citizen that politics do not interfere with science in these critical times.

Dr JP McCormack, Portstewart
