At a time when unionist concerns are increasingly marginalised or ignored by the media I often wonder where we would be without the News Letter which unapologetically reflects the views and concerns of tens of thousands across Northern Ireland.

Your editorial yesterday morning as a striking example of this. Unionists from all political parties would do well to take heed.

(The editorial can be read here: ‘Protocol an even bigger disaster than we feared,’ February 3)

The mistakes made to date need to be faced up to and robust, sustained pressure put on the government to scrap the protocol.

Stop the North/South bodies meeting. Stop manning the Irish Sea Border Posts.

Stop meekly voting for the legislation which is required to implement the protocol.

It is becoming clear that the existence of the Union demands nothing less.
