Protestants also lived in slums

Reading what Tom Cooper from Dublin has written (September 13) about Mike Nesbitt MLA, all unionist MLAs, unionists, the Orange Order, the British government, army, and police '“ that we are all to blame for all the murders of the innocent people he has named in this newspaper.

That Catholics and nationalists lived in ghettos, denied jobs, equal voting rights and housing.

All killing is wrong no matter who it is.

Does Tom think that it was only Catholic nationalists who lived like this?

Protestants and Catholics lived beside each other in houses that would be called slums today.

Our fathers had to work away from home to send money home to put food on the table a roof over our head and clothes on our backs.

We wore hand-me-down clothes and shoes.

Our mothers went to jumble sales.

There were families with 14 and more children.

Every family helped each out.

Tom: everyone has a right to justice.
