Sadness at death of peacemaker Shimon Peres
I deeply regret the death of former president of Israel and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Shimon Peres.
Shimon Peres was a tremendous force for peace in the Middle East.
With his death Israel has lost a great statesman.
I had the honour of meeting him once in Israel and I found him to be one of the most honest and astute politicians I have ever encountered.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and my condolences are with his family and the Israeli people in their time of mourning.
