As a Christian I would like to say how disappointed I was with the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Dr Charles McMullen, when he was asked in a daily newspaper did he think it was a sin to practice homosexuality, and he refused to declare whether it was a sin [when asked the question directly in a Belfast Telegraph interview in late October, he said he was “not going to answer that question specifically here”].
I would say to Rev McMullen who is a liberal ecumenist that he is betraying the Lord and Holy Scripture.
Does Dr McMullen not understand that the Bible condemns homosexuality as sin and the Bible is clear that no sin will enter into heaven?
All sinful acts will perish in hell for all eternity.
I believe we need people like the McArthur family, owners of Ashers, who took their stand for God and won their case. When Christians take their stand God will be faithful to them.
Then we had a DUP councillor who gave his backing to a motion on LGBT rights when he, Tom Smith, supported a proposal that would see Ards Town Hall lit up in the rainbow colours for future pride celebrations but it was defeated.
So I believe we have compromised from the main Protestant churches, the Loyal Orders and the DUP on Christian and moral issues.
The Bible says “Them that honour me I will honour.”
So people like Dr McMullen and others need to stand up for God and not of man.
The McArthur family stood for God and God gave them the victory.
Why are so many betraying God and His principles? We need to stand for God in these days of compromise.
