A senior member of the Orange Order has said the organisation has no set stance on whether unionists continue to share power with Sinn Fein.
Rev Mervyn Gibson, the Belfast-based chaplain for the institution, was asked for a view on the UUP walkout from government, and whether the DUP should follow suit.
He responded that “the Orange wouldn’t have a view on it”.
Asked for a view on the political situation at large, in the wake of the chief constable’s assessment that the PIRA still exists, he said the response would be the same at the current stage.
He said that the Order is a “broad church”, containing members with different party affiliations.
