A police spokesperson said: “Detectives from PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit have charged two men, aged 36 and 37, with preparatory acts of terrorism and suspected possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

“Both men are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday, December 1. As is normal procedure the charges are reviewed by the PPS (Public Prosecution Service).”

The charges are in connection with searches carried out earlier this week in the Antrim Road/Duncairn Gardens area of north Belfast. A firearm and a quantity of ammunition were seized.
