Cllr Tinsley said she has had concerns about the lack of lighting along the section of the Gilford Road where the collision occurred.

“That stretch of road is a very dark area but apparently it doesn’t fulfil the criteria for street lighting,” she said.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday night, Cllr Tinsley said: “Our prayers are with the family of the man who has died as a result of this very sad and tragic accident.

“Can we as a community also pray for the family of the man who was driving the car. I know he and his family will also be suffering after this traumatic accident.
