The organisers said they have had to take the “horrible decision” of cancelling the event this year due to lockdown restriction.

The event, which sees hundreds of performers and collectives come together to showcase the talent of Northern Ireland, was due to take place on Friday, September 18.

In a tweet, organisers said it “was the right thing to do given the current situation”.

However, organisers have said they have been “looking at other options,” which potentially could see the event move online.

They said: “We are sad to have to tell you that Culture Night Belfast 2020, originally scheduled for September 18th, has been cancelled. It’s been a really sad decision to make as we know Culture Night is a highlight of the year for so many of you.

“We hate to disappoint you all but given the uncertainty of the current situation, and putting your health and well-being first, we believe this is the best course of action to take.”
