Dozens of pupils sent home after positive COVID test at NI college

Dozens of pupils have been sent home from an NI college after a positive COVID-19 test.

It is understood around 53 pupils were sent home from Lurgan College on Wednesday - just days after returning back to school this week.

Some pupils and parents voiced disappointment that they had to go home so soon after getting back to school on Monday.

Principal Trevor Robinson said: “I can confirm that a member of our school community tested positive for Covid-19.

“I have assured parents that I have sought and followed the most up-to-date advice from the Public Health Agency (PHA).

“I appreciate the concerns of parents, pupils and the wider school community and I have reassured them that every precaution has been taken in line with advice from PHA.

“Ensuring the safety of pupils and staff remains the school’s absolute priority.”
