In a GoFundMe Michelle Chambers from Newry said Ruby has “not had much of a life of her own” before coming to her.

In recent days Ruby was “rushed in for emergency surgery after having had an ultrasound and being found to have a severe case of pyometra”.

“Her womb is completely filled with pus and if left untreated she will die.

“I have never asked for financial help with any of my rescue dogs in 10 years of rescue rehoming but unfortunately in the current climate and with the level of vet care I’ve had to cover the past year I’m pushed to my very limit.”

In her appeal Michelle said that Ruby’s health deteriorated as she was simply “bred and bred and bred”.

She said the poor pup has “been used and discarded and not had much of a life of her own”.

“I’m particularly fond of this girl and I want her to live out her years happy and content and know what it’s like to be a pet and not just a breeding machine,” added Michelle.

“I understand it’s a bad time of year for everyone and I don’t expect all my friends and family to feel obliged to help but if anyone can I will be eternally grateful.”

Michelle added that she has “currently paid £265 pound to date and the further bills will exceed £600 pound.”
