LATEST: NI road now reopened after Air Ambulance and two Emergency crews tasked to morning collision and one casualty rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital - road had been closed for hours

This evening a PSNI spokesman said: “The Downpatrick Road, Ballynahinch has reopened following an earlier road traffic collision.
“Police received a report of a three vehicle road traffic collision on the Downpatrick Road at around 10:45 am this morning.

Hide Ad“One person was taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. The road has now reopened”.
Earlier a spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they “received a 999 call at 10.43am today following reports of a two vehicle RTC at Downpatrick Road, Ballynahinch”.
The statement adds that NIAS despatched two Emergency crews to the scene.
They added that the charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

Hide AdAnd following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
Earlier a PSNI spokesman said: “The Downpatrick Road, Ballynahinch is closed due to a road traffic collision.
“Diversions are in place at Drumaness Road and Cumber Road.
“The road is expected to be closed for some time so, if possible, please seek an alternative route”.
