Nine people test positive for COVID-19 over the weekend - no deaths recorded in NI - no patients fighting for their lives with coronavirus in ICU

There have been no deaths with coronavirus in NI in the last 24 hours, according to Department of Health figures.

That means our death toll remains at 554.

This number is comprised of 291 men and 262 women.

Of that number 370 people were aged 80-years and over - 159 people were aged 60-79 years - 23 people were 40-59 years, one person was in the 20-39 years group and one whose age was not known.

The Department’s daily figures are mostly comprised of hospital deaths and where a patient had previously tested positive for the virus.

The latest figures on the department’s dashboard show the total number of confirmed positive cases of the virus now stands at 5,756, with nine positive tests recorded over the weekend.

Three council areas have seen increases in cases - Lisburn and Castlereagh, Mid and East Antrim, and Newry, Mourne, and Down.

Meanwhile according to the statistics there are no patients with COVID-19 in ICU.

But there are now 20 patients with coronavirus in NI Care Homes - and 10 people with suspected cases of COVID-19 also in Care Homes.

Across the UK, as of Saturday, there were 44,220 deaths.

The overall death toll in the Republic of Ireland is 1,741.
