In a post on Facebook PSNI Newry, Mourne and Down say: “We have encountered a large number of people along the Head Road Kilkeel reducing everyone’s ability to maintain a safe social distance.

“The vehicles parked along the road also pose a risk especially at junctions.

“Please use your common sense and avoid well known tourist and beauty spots today so that you protect your own health and others health”.

Another post on Police Causeway Coast & Glens Facebook page also appeals for people to respect socially distancing regulations.

It says: “We have increased patrols today to focus on #COVID19 related issues of crowds gathering in breach of Regulation 6 of the Health Protection Regulations and road safety - particularly speeding and drink driving.

“Help us to keep you safe by following the @NIExecutive regulations”.

This evening another picture emerged of cars packed into a car park at East Strand in Portrush - as the PSNI continue to appeal for people to socially distance.
