PSNI release statement on investigation into funeral of Bobby Storey revealing 24 people now interviewed

A statement has been released on behalf of Deputy Chief Constable Mark Webster into the investigation on the funeral of senior republican apBobby Storey.

The investigation was into alleged Covid-19 breaches when almost 2000 people attended the funeral in June 2020.

It is understood that Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill has now been interviewed.

The statement released by the PSNI said: “I was appointed to independently examine the sequence of events surrounding the funeral of Bobby Storey on 30th June this year and alleged breaches of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2020.

“We have now interviewed 24 individuals suspected of having breached the Regulations and a file will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) on Friday 18th December 2020.

“I will not be making any further comment so as not to prejudice any future decision made by the PPS.”
